Alprovit Syrup uses and description

Sort by popularity
Alprovit Syrup consists of Iron, Magnesium Chloride, Sorbitol, Vitamin B6, Protein Hydrolysate, Vitamin B5, Manganese, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B2, Zinc Sulfate.

Iron - Used for: Supplementing Alprovit Syrup (Iron) in the diet and treating or preventing anemia (low red blood cell levels) due to low Alprovit Syrup (Iron) levels. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Alprovit Syrup (Iron) is a mineral. It works by helping the body to make hemoglobin, which is found in red blood cells. Hemoglobin allows red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout the body, which helps to reduce the effects of anemia.

The major activity of supplemental Alprovit Syrup (Iron) is in the prevention and treatment of Alprovit Syrup (Iron) deficiency anemia. Alprovit Syrup (Iron) has putative immune-enhancing, anticarcinogenic and cognition-enhancing activities.

Magnesium Chloride - Pharmacology: Magnesium is an important activator of many enzyme systems, and deficits are accompanied by a variety of functional disturbances.

Indication: Electrolyte replenisher in magnesium deficiencies.

Magnesium is a mineral that occurs naturally in the body and is found in certain foods. Magnesium is important for many systems in the body especially the muscles, nerves, heart, and bones.

Alprovit Syrup (Magnesium Chloride) is used to treat or prevent magnesium deficiency (lack of natural magnesium in the body).

Alprovit Syrup (Magnesium Chloride) may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Sorbitol - Alprovit Syrup (Sorbitol) is a laxative. It is used to treat constipation.

Alprovit Syrup (Sorbitol) may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Vitamin B6 - Pyridoxine is vitamin B6. Vitamins are naturally occurring substances necessary for many processes in the body. Pyridoxine is important in the breakdown of protein, fats, and carbohydrates from foods into products needed by the body.

Pyridoxine is used to treat or prevent Alprovit Syrup (Vitamin B6) deficiency. It is also used to treat a certain type of anemia (lack of red blood cells). Pyridoxine injection is used to treat some types of seizure in babies.

Pyridoxine taken by mouth (oral) is available without a prescription. Injectable pyridoxine must be given by a healthcare professional.

Pyridoxine may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Alprovit Syrup (Vitamin B6) (pyridoxine) is a water-soluble vitamin used in the prophylaxis and treatment of Alprovit Syrup (Vitamin B6) deficiency and peripheral neuropathy in those receiving isoniazid (isonicotinic acid hydrazide, INH). Alprovit Syrup (Vitamin B6) has been found to lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure in a small group of subjects with essential hypertension. Hypertension is another risk factor for atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease. Another study showed pyridoxine hydrochloride to inhibit ADP- or epinephrine-induced platelet aggregation and to lower total cholesterol levels and increase HDL-cholesterol levels, again in a small group of subjects. Vitamin B6, in the form of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, was found to protect vascular endothelial cells in culture from injury by activated platelets. Endothelial injury and dysfunction are critical initiating events in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Human studies have demonstrated that Alprovit Syrup (Vitamin B6) deficiency affects cellular and humoral responses of the immune system. Alprovit Syrup (Vitamin B6) deficiency results in altered lymphocyte differentiation and maturation, reduced delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) responses, impaired antibody production, decreased lymphocyte proliferation and decreased interleukin (IL)-2 production, among other immunologic activities.

Indication: For the treatment of Alprovit Syrup (Vitamin B6) deficiency and for the prophylaxis of isoniazid-induced peripheral neuropathy.

Pernicious anaemia, peripheral neuritis especially diabetic and alcoholic polyneuritis, trigeminal neuritis, vomiting of pregnancy, vitamin B complex deficiency, anorexia, agranulocytosis, radiation sickness, coeliac and idiopathic, steatorrhoea which are usually accompanied by malabsorption of vitamin B 12 and during administration of broad-spectrum antibiotics.

Protein Hydrolysate - Indications: nutritional supplement

Vitamin B5 - Indications: hair, scalp, and skin disorders

Manganese - Pharmacology: Activator for enzymes such as polysaccharide polymerase, liver arginase, cholinesterase, and pyruvate carboxylase.

Indication: As a supplement to TPN to help maintain Alprovit Syrup (Manganese) plasma levels and to prevent depletion of endogenous stores and subsequent deficiency syndromes.

Vitamin B1 - Thiamine is vitamin B1. Thiamine is found in foods such as cereals, whole grains, meat, nuts, beans, and peas. Thiamine is important in the breakdown of carbohydrates from foods into products needed by the body.

Thiamine is used to treat or prevent Alprovit Syrup (Vitamin B1) deficiency. Thiamine injection is used to treat beriberi, a serious condition caused by prolonged lack of vitamin B1.

Thiamine taken by mouth (oral) is available without a prescription. Injectable thiamine must be given by a healthcare professional.

Thiamine may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Vitamin B3 - Indications: hypercholesterolaemia

Chilblains; hyperlipidaemias; peripheral vascular disorders; venous ulcers

Vitamin B2 - Riboflavin is Alprovit Syrup (Vitamin B2). Vitamins are naturally occurring substances necessary for many processes in the body. Riboflavin is important in the maintenance of many tissues of the body.

Riboflavin is used to prevent and to treat deficiencies of riboflavin.

Riboflavin may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Zinc Sulfate - Pharmacology: Acts as an integral part of several enzymes important to protein and carbohydrate metabolism, wound healing, maintenance of normal growth and skin hydration, and senses of taste and smell.

Indication: Dietary supplementation; supplement to IV solutions given for TPN; treatment or prevention of zinc deficiencies. Ophthalmic solution used as mild astringent for relief of eye irritation.

Unlabeled Uses
