Biviflu consists of Paracetamol, Loratadine, Dextromethorphan HBr.

Paracetamol - Analgesic-antipyretic. It has analgesic, antipyretic and weak anti-inflammatory action. The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, the predominant influence on the thermoregulation center in the hypothalamus, enhances heat transfer.

Biviflu (Paracetamol) (Wah Foo) helps relieve pain and fever.

Oral Mild to moderate pain and fever

Adult: 0.5-1 g 4-6 hrly as necessary. Max: 4 g daily.

Child: Neonate 28-32 wk post menstrual age: 20 mg/kg as a single dose then 10-15 mg/kg 8-12 hrly (max 30 mg/kg daily in divided doses); neonate >32 wk post menstrual age: 20 mg/kg as a single dose then 10-15 mg/kg 6-8 hrly (max 60 mg/kg daily in divided doses); child 1-3 mth: 30 mg 8 hrly (max 60 mg/kg daily in divided doses); 3 mth-1 yr: 60-120 mg 4-6 hrly (max 4 doses in 24 hr); 1-5 yr: 120-250 mg 4-6 hrly (max 4 doses in 24 hr); 6-12 yr: 250-500 mg 4-6 hrly (max 4 doses in 24 hr). Temporarily relieves minor aches and pains due to common cold or flu, backache, headache, arthritis, menstrual and premenstrual cramps, muscular aches, sore throat, toothache; temporarily reduces fever.

Loratadine - Pharmacology: Competitively antagonizes histamine at the H -receptors.

Biviflu (Loratadine) is an antihistamine. Antihistamines prevent sneezing, runny nose, itching and watering of the eyes, and other allergic symptoms. Loratadine is used to treat allergies, hives (urticaria), and other allergic inflammatory conditions.

Indications: Allergic conditions.

Biviflu (Loratadine) helps to relieve symptoms of cold and allergy, such as runny nose, itch, watery eyes and sneezing. It also helps relieve allergic skin conditions such as hives, itchy rash due to insect bites or chicken pox. Biviflu (Loratadine) belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines.

Oral Allergic conditions

Adult: 10 mg once daily.

Child: 2-5 yr: 5 mg once daily. 6-12 yr: 10 mg once daily. Renal impairment: Dosage may need to be reduced to alternate day admin. Hepatic impairment: Dosage may need to be reduced to alternate day admin.

Oral Allergic conditions e.g. rhinitis and chronic urticaria

Adult: 10 mg once daily.

Child: 2-5 yr: 5 mg once daily. 6-12 yr: 10 mg once daily. Renal impairment: Dosage may need to be reduced to alternate day admin. Hepatic impairment: Dosage may need to be reduced to alternate day admin.

Oral Allergic conditions
