Gravimed - Gravimed is used to prevent and treat nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and vertigo associated with motion sickness.

Gravimed may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Pharmacology: Directly inhibits labyrinthine stimulation for up to 3 h.

Indication: Prevention and treatment of motion sickness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting.

Unlabeled Uses

Treatment of Meniere disease, nausea and vomiting of pregnancy, postoperative nausea, and vomiting.

Gravimed is an antiemetics drug combination that contains diphenhydramine and theophylline. It is not effective in the treatment of nausea associated with cancer chemotherapy. Gravimed directly inhibits the stimulation of certain nerves in the brain and inner ear to suppress nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and vertigo. Diphenhydramine and dimenhydinate both reduce vestibular neuronal excitation due to angular or linear acceleration motions.

Oral Treatment and prophylaxis of motion sickness

Adult: 50-100 mg 3-4 times daily. For prevention of motion sickness, 1st dose to be given at least 30 minutes before traveling.

Child: 2-6 yr: 12.5-25 mg; 6-12 yr: 25-50 mg; Doses can be repeated every 6-8 hr. Max: 75 mg daily (2-6 yr) and 150 mg daily (6-12 yr). Oral Nausea and vertigo caused by Meniere's disease

Indications:

Adult: PO Motion sickness 50-100 mg 30 mins before travelling; may repeat 6-8 hrly if needed. Nausea and vertigo caused by Meniere's disease 50-100 mg 3-4 times/day. IV/IM Nausea and vertigo caused by Meniere's disease; Motion sickness As 5% soln: 50 mg via IM inj. As 0.5% soln: 50 mg via slow IV inj.
