Gyno Mikozal - Used for: Treating fungal infections of the mouth and throat.

Gyno Mikozal is an azole antifungal. It works by killing sensitive fungi.

Pharmacology: Alters permeability of fungal cell membrane, leading to cell death.

Indication: Buccal tablets

For the local treatment of oropharyngeal candidiasis.

Parenteral form

Treatment of severe systemic fungal infections.

Topical form

Treatment of topical fungal infections, including tinea infections and candidiasis.

Vaginal form

Local treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis (moniliasis).

Gyno Mikozal is an anti-fungal medication related to fluconazole (Diflucan), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), and clotrimazole (Lotrimin, Mycelex). It is used either on the skin or in the vagina for fungal infections. Gyno Mikozal was approved by the FDA in 1974. Gyno Mikozal prevents fungal organisms from producing vital substances required for growth and function. This medication is effective only for infections caused by fungal organisms. It will not work for bacterial or viral infections.

Vaginal Vaginal candidiasis

Adult: 100 mg (as pessary or 5 g of 2% cream) inserted at night for 7-14 days. Alternatively, 100 mg bid for 7 days; 200 or 400 mg (as pessaries) daily for 3 days or 1200 mg (as pessary) as a single dose. Topical/Cutaneous Skin fungal infections, dermatophytosis and cutaneous candidiasis

Adult: Apply as 2% cream/lotion/powder bid onto affected area.

Child: Apply as 2% cream/lotion/powder bid onto affected area. Topical/Cutaneous Balanitis

Adult: As 2% cream or gel: Sufficient quantity or about 5 g applied locally/intravaginally and surrounding areas for 14 days. Topical/Cutaneous Vulvovaginal candidiasis

Adult: As 2% cream or gel: Sufficient quantity or about 5 g applied locally/intravaginally and surrounding areas for 14 days. Topical/Cutaneous Tinea versicolor

Adult: Apply 2% cream once daily.

Child: Apply 2% cream once daily. Topical/Cutaneous Localized fungal infections of the mouth

Adult: As oral gel containing Gyno Mikozal 20 mg/g: Apply directly to lesions 4 times a day for 5-7 days. Continue treatment until 48 hr after lesions have healed.

Child: As oral gel containing Gyno Mikozal 20 mg/g: <6 yr: Apply directly to lesions twice daily. ≥6 yr: Apply directly to lesions 4 times a day. Continue treatment until 48 hr after lesions have healed. Mouth/Throat Intestinal or oropharyngeal candidiasis

Adult: As oral gel containing 20 mg/g (24 mg/ml): 5-10 ml after food 4 times a day. Retain near oral lesions before swallowing. Continue treatment until 48 hr after lesions have healed.

Child: As oral gel containing 20 mg/g: 1 mth-2 y: 2.5 ml bid. 2-6 yr: 5 ml bid. >6 yr: 5 ml 4 times a day. Retain near oral lesions before swallowing. Continue treatment until 48 hr after lesions have healed.

Mouth/Throat Intestinal or oropharyngeal candidiasis

Adult: As oral gel containing 20 mg/g (24 mg/ml): 5-10 ml after food 4 times a day. Retain near oral lesions before swallowing. Continue treatment until 48 hr after lesions have healed. For treatment of oral lesions, apply directly onto the lesions 4 times a day for 5-7 days. Continue treatment until 48 hr after lesions have healed.

Gyno Mikozal is an antifungal medicine. It helps to relieve fungal infections of the skin and nails. Gyno Mikozal works by attacking the fungus and some of the associated bacteria causing the infection.

Indications:

Adult: Mouth/Throat Intestinal or oropharyngeal candidiasis Per mL gel contains Gyno Mikozal 24 mg: 5-10 mL 4 times/day. Continue until 48 hr after lesions have healed. Vag Vag candidiasis As pessary: 100 mg every night for 7-14 days. As 2% cream: 5 g every night for 7-14 days. Topical Skin fungal infections As 2% cream/lotion/powd: Apply twice daily.
