Isoniazida uses and description

Sort by popularity
Isoniazida - Isoniazida is an antibiotic. It prevents tuberculous bacteria from multiplying in the body.

Isoniazida is used to treat and to prevent tuberculosis (TB).

Isoniazida may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Isoniazida is a bactericidal agent active against organisms of the genus Mycobacterium, specifically M. tuberculosis, M. bovis and M. kansasii. It is a highly specific agent, ineffective against other microorganisms. Isoniazida is bactericidal to rapidly-dividing mycobacteria, but is bacteriostatic if the mycobacterium is slow-growing.

Isoniazida is used together with other medicines to treat a lung infection known as tuberculosis (TB). It can also be given for the prevention of TB if you have been exposed to the TB bacteria through contact with another person who has TB.

Antituberculosis Agents

Isoniazida Tablets is recommended for all forms of tuberculosis in which organisms are susceptible. However, active tuberculosis must be treated with multiple concomitant anti- tuberculosis medications to prevent emergence of drug resistance. Single- drug treatment of active tuberculosis with Isoniazida, or any other medication, is inadequate therapy. Isoniazid is recommended as preventive therapy for T.B.
