Mitoxine uses and description

Sort by popularity
Mitoxine - Mitoxine is a cancer (antineoplastic) medication. Mitoxine interferes with the growth of cancer cells and slows their growth and spread in the body.

Mitoxine is used to treat several types of cancer, such as Hodgkin's Disease, lymphosarcoma, chronic myelocytic or chronic lymphocytic leukemia, lung cancer and mycosis fungoides. Mitoxine is also used to treat certain other blood disorders (polycythemia vera) and is sometimes injected into body spaces, such as the chest, abdomen or the sack containing the heart, to stop the accumulation of fluids caused by cancer.

Mitoxine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Mitoxine also known as mustine, nitrogen mustard, and HN2, is the prototype anticancer chemotherapeutic drug. Successful clinical use of Mitoxine gave birth to the field of anticancer chemotherapy. The drug is an analogue of mustard gas and was derived from toxic gas warfare research. It belongs to the group of nitrogen mustard alkylating agents. Alkylating agents work by three different mechanisms all of which achieve the same end result - disruption of DNA function and cell death.
