PRASUDOC uses and description

Sort by popularity
PRASUDOC - Pharmacology: PRASUDOC is a thienopyridine class inhibitor of platelet activation and aggregation. It acts by irreversibly binding its active metabolite to the P2Y class of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptors on platelets.

Indication: To reduce the rate of thrombotic CV events (including stent thrombosis) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) who are to be managed with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) as follows: patients with unstable angina or non–ST elevation MI (NSTEMI); patients with ST elevation MI (STEMI) when managed with primary or delayed PCI.

PRASUDOC keeps the platelets in your blood from coagulating (clotting) to prevent unwanted blood clots that can occur with certain heart or blood vessel conditions.

PRASUDOC is used to prevent blood clots in people with acute coronary syndrome who are undergoing a procedure after a recent heart attack or stroke, and in people with certain disorders of the heart or blood vessels.

PRASUDOC may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.

PRASUDOC is a member of the thienopyridine class of ADP receptor inhibitors, like ticlopidine (trade name Ticlid) and clopidogrel (trade name Plavix). These agents reduce the aggregation ("clumping") of platelets by irreversibly binding to P2Y12 receptors. Compared to clopidogrel, PRASUDOC inhibits adenosine diphosphate–induced platelet aggregation more rapidly, more consistently, and to a greater extent than do standard and higher doses of clopidogrel in healthy volunteers and in patients with coronary artery disease, including those undergoing PCI.
