Pedovex uses and description

Sort by popularity
Pedovex - Pedovex keeps the platelets in your blood from coagulating (clotting) to prevent unwanted blood clots that can occur with certain heart or blood vessel conditions.

Pedovex is used to prevent blood clots after a recent heart attack or stroke, and in people with certain disorders of the heart or blood vessels.

Pedovex may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Pharmacology: Pedovex is a thienopyridine derivative, chemically related to ticlopidine, which inhibits platelet aggregation. It acts by irreversibly modifying the platelet adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptor. Therefore, platelet aggregation is inhibited for both ADP-mediated and ADP-amplified (by other agonists) platelet activation. Consequently, platelets exposed to Pedovex are affected for the remainder of their lifespan.

Indication: Reduction of atherosclerotic events (eg, MI, stroke, vascular death) in patients with atherosclerosis documented by recent stroke, recent MI, or established peripheral arterial disease; treatment of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) (unstable angina/non–ST-segment elevation MI), including patients managed with coronary revascularization; treatment of ACS in patients with ST-segment elevation acute MI.

Unlabeled Uses

As a loading dose regimen of Pedovex with aspirin to prevent cardiac adverse reactions in patients undergoing coronary stent implantation.

Pedovex [Ban:Inn], an antiplatelet agent structurally and pharmacologically similar to ticlopidine, is used to reduce atherosclerotic events such as myocardial infarction, stroke, and vascular death in patients who have had a recent stroke, recent MI, or have established peripheral vascular disease.

Indication: For the reduction of atherosclerotic events (myocardial infarction, stroke, and vascular death) in patients with atherosclerosis documented by recent stroke, recent myocardial infarction, or established peripheral arterial disease

Pedovex is a blood-thinning medicine. It prevents special cells in the blood -- the platelets -- from sticking to each other. This reduces the risk of harmful blood clots forming. Blood clots that form in a blood vessel inside the heart or brain can cause a heart attack or a stroke. Pedovex is used to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes in people at high risk. This includes people who have had a heart attack or stroke before and are at risk of getting another one. It also includes people with blood circulation problems that may increase their chances of getting a heart attack or stroke. Pedovex is also used together with aspirin to prevent blood clots in people who have had stents inserted into their heart arteries. Pedovex may also be used to treat other conditions such as peripheral arterial disease (where there is some blockage or narrowing of arteries) or heart disease.

Oral Prophylaxis of thromboembolic disorders

Adult: 75 mg once daily. CrCl (ml/min) Dosage Recommendation 5-15 Use with caution. Hepatic impairment: Severe hepatic impairment: Use with caution. Oral Acute coronary syndrome

For unstable angina, non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction: Initial: 300 mg loading dose, followed by 75 mg once daily (with aspirin 75-325 mg once daily).

Oral Prophylaxis in thromboembolic disorders including myocardial infarction, peripheral arterial disease and stroke
