SIZOPIN - 100 - Used for: Managing schizophrenia in patients who do not respond to other medicines. It is used to decrease the risk of suicidal behavior in certain patients. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
SIZOPIN - 100 is an atypical antipsychotic. It may work by affecting certain chemicals in the brain, which has an effect on thinking and behavior.

SIZOPIN - 100 is used to treat severe schizophrenia. SIZOPIN - 100 is also used to reduce the risk of suicidal behavior in people with schizophrenia or similar disorders.
SIZOPIN - 100 is usually given after other medications have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms.

Pharmacology: Interferes with dopamine binding at D with similar receptor affinities may explain some of the other therapeutic and side effects of Clozapine. Clozapine\'s antagonism of muscarinic M1-5 receptors may explain its anticholinergic effects. Clozapine\'s antagonism of histamine H1 receptors may explain the somnolence observed with this drug. Clozapine\'s antagonism of adrenergic a1 receptors may explain the orthostatic hypotension observed with this drug.
Oral Schizophrenia
Adult: 12.5 mg 1-2 times on day 1 followed by 25 mg 1-2 times on day 2, increased gradually in increments of 25-50 mg up to a daily dose of 300 mg within 14-21 days. Subsequent increments of 50-100 mg may be made 1-2 times wkly. Usual dose: 200-450 mg/day. Max: 900 mg/day.
Elderly: Initially, 12.5 mg on day 1 increased subsequently by increments of 25 mg. Renal impairment: Mild-moderate renal impairment: use with caution. Severe impairment: contra-indicated. Hepatic impairment: Use with caution and avoid in symptomatic or progressive liver disease or hepatic failure. Oral Psychoses in parkinsonism
Adult: Initially, 12.5 mg once daily at night, increased in steps of 12.5 mg up to 2 times each wk, not >50 mg/day at the end of the 2nd wk. Usual dose: 25-37.5 mg daily. Max: 100 mg daily. Hepatic impairment: Use with caution and avoid in symptomatic or progressive liver disease or hepatic failure.
