Tamiflu uses and description

Sort by popularity
Tamiflu - Used for: Treating influenza, including H1N1 influenza (swine flu), in patients 1 year of age and older who have had symptoms for no more than 2 days. It may also be used to prevent influenza in patients 1 year of age and older.

Tamiflu is an antiviral. It works by stopping the flu virus from reproducing within the body.

Tamiflu is an antiviral medication that blocks the actions of influenza virus types A and B in your body.

Tamiflu is used to treat flu symptoms caused by influenza virus in patients who have had symptoms for less than 2 days. Tamiflu may also be given to prevent influenza in people who may be exposed but do not yet have symptoms. Tamiflu will not treat the common cold.

It is dangerous to purchase Tamiflu on the Internet or from vendors outside of the United States. Medications distributed from Internet sales may contain dangerous ingredients, or may not be distributed by a licensed pharmacy. Samples of "Tamiflu" purchased on the Internet have been found to contain cloxacillin, a type of antibiotic that can have dangerous side effects in people who are allergic to penicillin. For more information, contact the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or visit www.fda.gov/buyonlineguide.

Tamiflu may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Tamiflu is an antiviral drug, a neuraminidase inhibitor used in the treatment and prophylaxis of both influenza A and influenza B. Tamiflu is a prodrug (usually administered as phosphate), it is hydrolysed hepatically to the active metabolite, the free carboxylate of Tamiflu (GS4071). Like zanamivir, Tamiflu acts as a transition-state analogue inhibitor of influenza neuraminidase.

Indication: For the treatment of uncomplicated acute illness due to influenza infection in patients 1 year and older who have been symptomatic for no more than 2 days. Also for the prophylaxis of influenza in adult patients and adolescents 13 years and older.

Tamiflu phosphate(Tamiflu) is in a new group of antiviral drugs called neuraminidase inhibitors. As the flu virus takes hold in the body, it forms new copies of itself and spreads from cell to cell. Neuraminidase inhibitors prevent the release of virus copies from the infected cells. Tamiflu is a pro-drug which through metabolisation transforms into its active form.

  • headache
  • vomiting
  • difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
  • diarrhea
  • nausea
  • dizziness
  • cough
