Zinnat uses and description

Sort by popularity
Zinnat - Zinnat is a β-lactam type antibiotic. More specifically, it is a second-generation cephalosporin. Cephalosporins work the same way as penicillins: they interfere with the peptidoglycan synthesis of the bacterial wall by inhibiting the final transpeptidation needed for the cross-links. This effect is bactericidal. Zinnat is effective against the following organisms: Aerobic Gram-positive Microorganisms: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes. Aerobic Gram-negative Microorganisms: Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae (including beta-lactamase-producing strains), Haemophilus parainfluenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Moraxella catarrhalis (including beta-lactamase-producing strains), Neisseria gonorrhoeae (including beta-lactamase-producing strains). Spirochetes: Borrelia burgdorferi.

Indication: For the treatment of many different types of bacterial infections such as bronchitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, ear infections, skin infections, gonorrhea, and urinary tract infections.

Zinnat Tablets contain an antibiotic called cefuroxime, which treats infections caused by bacteria, in different parts of the body.

Zinnat axetil is an oral prodrug of the bactericidal cephalosporin antibiotic cefuroxime, which is resistant to most beta-lactamases and is active against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.

Indications:

  • Do not take extra tablets.
  • Do not take the tablets more often than you have been told.
  • Take all the tablets your doctor has prescribed for you, even if you feel better.

Treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Upper Respiratory Tract Infections: Ear, nose and throat infections eg, otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis and pharyngitis. Lower Respiratory Tract Infections: Pneumonia, acute bronchitis and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. Genitourinary Tract Infections: Pyelonephritis, cystitis and urethritis. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Furunculosis, pyoderma and impetigo. Gonorrhoea, acute uncomplicated gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis. Treatment of early Lyme disease and subsequent prevention of late Lyme disease in adults and children >12 years. Where appropriate Zinnat tablet is effective when used following initial parenteral Zinacef (cefuroxime sodium) in the treatment of pneumonia and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.
